RectorDecryptor is a free release by Kaspersky (the antivirus author) which helps remove the nasty Trojan-Ransom.Win32.Rector worm and decrypts the files it has held for ransom.

If you're ever infected with this trojan, you will likely see a ransom screen asking you to pay up to have your files released. The trojan infects JPG, RAR, PDF and Word documents.

Running RectorDecryptor will scan your system for traces of the virus such as internal and external hard drives, USB mass storage devices and other media connected to your computer. Once the program has done its job, it will save a log file which you may access to view the damage Trojan-Ransom.Win32.Rector has caused.

This is one a few antivirus solutions which will take care of the trojan, but is a free standalone product if you wish to quickly clean your system.

Compatibility and License

RectorDecryptor is provided under a freeware license on Windows from antivirus with no restrictions on usage. Download and installation of this PC software is free and 2.7.1.0 is the latest version last time we checked.
